2026 is shaping up to be the busiest, most exciting year in Disc Golf Romania's history. From PDGA sanctioned tournaments on home soil to international circuit appearances, seasonal leagues, community clinics, and public exhibitions, there is something on the calendar for every type of player — whether you are chasing a podium or just discovering the sport for the first time.

And for our most competitive players, the stakes couldn't be higher. Performance in 2026 competitions will play a decisive role in determining who earns a spot on Romania's roster for the European Disc Golf Championships 2027, where we are expected to be allocated 2 to 3 places. Every round counts. Every tournament matters. Here is what the year looks like.

🏆 PDGA Sanctioned Tournaments — Romania on the Map

The headline news: Romania will host two PDGA sanctioned tournaments in 2026 — a historic first for the country.

The Transylvania Open takes place August 7-9 at Hillside Transylvania in Odorheiu Secuiesc, and will be the first ever PDGA tournament held on Romanian soil. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Transylvanian mountains, this is a landmark moment not just for our community, but for disc golf in Eastern Europe.

Hot on its heels, the Bucharest Open returns to Verdi Park on September 18-20, bringing PDGA sanctioned competition to the heart of the capital for the first time. After the success of last year's edition, expectations are high — and we intend to deliver.

Both tournaments are open to the international disc golf community, and we extend a warm invitation to players from across Europe to come and be part of these historic events.

🌿 Seasonal Leagues — Ten Weeks at a Time

Community is built week by week, and our two seasonal leagues are the heartbeat of Disc Golf Romania's calendar.

The Verdi Park Spring Turn kicks off in May, running for ten weeks of competitive fun, creative formats, and the occasional glow round under the Bucharest night sky. Then, as the leaves begin to turn, the Verdi Park Autumn Fade takes over in October — ten more weeks of disc golf as the weather gets progressively wilder, colder, and more character-building. Both leagues welcome players of all skill levels, with divisions to match every stage of the disc golf journey.

🎯 Trvln Discs Events — Shoutout to Eli Lester

We are also thrilled to share that Trvln Discs is planning a series of casual tournaments and community events throughout the year. A heartfelt thank you to Eli Lester for his continued involvement and passion in growing the disc golf community in Romania — your energy and dedication mean everything to this scene. Stay tuned for announcements on Trvln Discs events as they are confirmed.

📚 Clinics and Public Exhibitions

Growing disc golf in Romania means reaching beyond our existing community and introducing the sport to as many new people as possible. Throughout 2026, we will be organizing clinics as regularly as we can — watch this space and our social media channels for announcements.

We will also be present at public sports exhibitions wherever we are invited, including events like BeActive Week and Școala, Altfel, where we look forward to putting a disc in the hands of as many curious newcomers as possible.

✈️ International — The Road to Europe

For those with competitive ambitions, 2026 is also a year of international travel and meaningful connections.

Several of our players are planning to compete on the Innova European AmTour circuit, targeting at least two or three stops to accumulate rating points and experience alongside Europe's best amateur players. The Bulgarian Open returns as a beloved tradition — our third consecutive year making the trip to Burgas, and we cannot wait to see our Bulgarian brothers again. 🇧🇬

We are also setting our sights on something new and close to home: our neighbours in Serbia recently installed their first permanent basket course in Belgrade, and we would love nothing more than to show up in numbers for one of their events. The Eastern European disc golf family is growing, and Disc Golf Romania intends to be at the heart of it. 🇷🇸
